Property description

The monumental St. Peter and Paul Church is the oldest and the most respected historical object in Puck. Its massive shape with a low tower is visible even at a large distance from the town. Certain lower parts of the church are considered to originate in the 13th century. It can be presumed that the founders of the first probably single-isle building were the Pomeranian Dukes. At the end of the 14th and in the 15th century, the currently existing building was constructed with the application of granite and brick. It’s worth paying attention to: Profiled tower cornice, Hall interior with a length of 37.6 m and width of 19.8 m, Rainbow wall with a large crucifix from approximately 1700. Baptismal from the first half of the 15th century, and younger Wejcherów chapel on the south side, Impressive confessionals from the second half of the 18th century, Reliquary from the 15th century, Impressive gothic monstrance, Communion chalice with the emblem of priest Judycki, Baroque ciborium from the 18th century. The entire eastern wall of the presbytery is covered by the main two-storey altar dating back to the mid 13th century. Two large paintings from 1663 are interesting objects adorning the walls of the presbytery. The main isle features a pulpit with a beautiful canopy made in the 17th century and renovated at the end of the 19th century. The most interesting group of works of art is presented in the Wejherów chapel, founded as a burial chapel in 1597. It features a beautiful star-shaped vaulting. A wooden altar was introduced at the western wall in 1623. The nave in front of the chapel features a twelve-arm lamp from 1644 funded by deputy starost G. Stymer. The tower includes 4 historical bells, each with an inscription: ?ave Maria plena dominus teum? (Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed art thou). Source: www.miasto.puck.pl
