Vrátna Free Time Zone

Vrátna valley is situated in KRIVANSKA FATRA and the begining of organized tourism can be dated back to the year 1879, when Association of natural science in Žilina started with the trips to Malá Fatra include Súľov stones. In 50s’ years of 20th century the cableway to the Chleb peak that enabled to get to the start points of popular ridge hikes was opened. After 1989 Vrátna valley became the property of Terchová village and started to be rent. In 1997 Omnitrade joint stock company became the operator of ski and tourist center Vrátna. Vrátna valley got first investments in building 4-seat chairlift, ski-lifts, artificial snow covering. The cableway to Chleb peak was phase out of operation and was replaced by 8-seat cabin cableway to Snílov saddleback with yea-long operation. Terrain dissection of Vrátna valley provides great opportunities for tourists and nature lovers. In the summer the visitors are attracted by tours into the surrounds, thanks to extensive network of marked tourist trails (320 km), which lead to ridges of Velky Rozsutec (1610 metres above sea level), Velky Krivan (1709 metres a.s.l.) and many others. Also interesting are rocky formations – Tiesnavy with a Bush Ranger Trail and the Janosik Holes (canyon with a beautiful waterfall above which a monumental rock formation is towering over). In Mala Fatra apart from summer sign marking there is also a winter sign marking.

8 – seats gondola Doppelmayr takes you to Chleb, Top station 1490 m.n.m., Valley station 740 m.n.m., transport velocity: 5 m per sec, vertical interval 750 m. It is the newest model of single – rope gondola Doppelmayr with the removable Swoboda Ultra cabins. The gondola is designated for hikers and skiers transport.
